All 2024 Coaches (Senior, Junior and Volunteer) must bring the following completed paperwork to the coach meeting at the stadium at 1130am April 6th.
Volunteer Coaches
- Turning 13 or 14 years old this year
- Complete the Coach Code of Conduct form
- Complete Coach Contact Information and Parental Understanding form
- Get an NCCP# and complete “Safe Sport” training
- Attend the Coach Meeting with completed forms
Junior & Senior Coaches
- Turning 15 years old this year (14+)
- Complete the Coach Code of Conduct form
- Complete Coach Contact Information and Parental Understanding form (if under 18 years old)
- Complete ALL Tax and Banking forms
- Get an NCCP# and complete “Safe Sport” training
- Attend the Coach Meeting with completed forms
Becoming a coach is easy and fun - no track experience needed!
- Young athletes (or other young people) turning 13 are eligible to be Volunteer Coaches with the Track Rascal Program
- At the age of 14+ (turning 15), these young people can then sign up for the local coaching course or any online coaching courses. Once they have turned 15, they can become paid Junior Coaches of the PGTF Club as long as they have completed at least 1 season of volunteer coaching and commit to coaching for the season
- ALL COACHES require a number from the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP#) before registering for any coach training courses (see button below) and need to complete the module “Safe Sport training”
- All coaching courses have 2 prerequisites which can be done with an NCCP#
- Emergency Action Plan – e-learning (15 min, free)
- Long Term Athlete Development e-learning (60 min, $25)
- free e-learning Fundamentals of Athletics found in the coaching locker, can be completed before attending any coaching courses as it is available online (click here for info)
- PGTF Club will reimburse for any coaching courses as long as Junior Coaches commit to the season of coaching and submit receipts
- A variety of coach courses are available through viaSport, BC Athletics, National Coaching, and Engage Sport North
