Founded in the 1970’s, the Prince George Track and Field Club is a non-profit organization that has dedicated itself to the development of athletes and the growth of track & field. The work of the club’s volunteers, past and present, is a lasting legacy that benefits both athletes and communities alike, not only in Prince George but across Northern British Columbia.
We train all ages, beginning at 6 years old, in both track and field events. The philosophy of the Board of Directors is that all athletes will receive equal opportunity for training and competition.
Recent research has shown that Track and Field develops the fundamental skills required for many sports, be it hockey, soccer, football, basketball, lacrosse, etc. Without these fundamental skills athletes will never be able to reach their full potential. But more important, Track and Field is FUN!
The purpose of the club as defined by the Society’s Constitution & Bylaws is as follows:
- Promote, encourage and develop the widest participation in track and field including road racing and cross country running; the highest proficiency in track and field including road racing and cross country running.
- Arrange and assist in conducting instructional courses for coaches, athletes, officials or other interested persons in matters concerning track and field.
- Promote and assist in promoting major athletic competitions and demonstrations.
