PGTF at the Legion National Youth Championships

PRINCE GEORGE – Keiran Leboe of the Prince George Track and Field Club has been selected to Team BC and will compete at the Legion Youth Canadian Track & Field Championships on August 9-11, 2013 in Langley.  In total 1,149 entries are registered for the Legion Youth Championship.

The 15 year old (Midget U16) Leboe will compete in Hammer Throw, Javelin and Discus at:
Javelin @ Friday 11:15am
Discus @ Saturday 10:45am
Hammer Throw @ Sunday 10:30am
In addition to Leboe, seven other PG Track Club members will also compete at the Legion Nationals:
Emma Floris (Vanderhoof) – Women’s Midget 100m Dash (Friday 11:00am)
Lauren Matheson (PG) – Women’s Midget 100m Dash (Friday 11:00am)
Shelby Jansen (PG) – Women’s Midget 300m Dash (Saturday 11:35am)
Alex Nemethy (Vanderhoof) – Men’s Youth 3000m (Sat. 2:20pm) &  2000m Steeplechase (Sun. 3:20pm)
Ryan Gaiesky (PG) – Men’s Midget 100m Dash (Fri. 11:10am) & High Jump (Sat. 2:00pm)
Omar Medina (Valemount) – Men’s Midget Long Jump (Sun. 11:00am)
Carlee Campbell (PG) – Women’s Youth High Jump (Sat. 9:30am) & Triple Jump (Sun. 2:00pm)

Delayed video footage will be available throughout the competition at A two-hour special will also air on Shaw at a date to be determined in August.

A number of special events are planned in coordination with the 2013 Royal Canadian Legion Youth Track and Field Championship beginning with the official Opening Ceremony on the evening of Friday August 9.  Other events include National Peacekeepers Day Tribute to honour the 158 Canadian fallen soldiers from the Afghanistan War.  A 60th Anniversary Korean War Armistice will take place as well as a Candlelight Tribute during the Closing Ceremony to symbolically pass the Torch of Remembrance.
